Aromas of mayflower, acacia, and honeysuckle blend with verbena and hazelnut and in some cases toast or fresh butter.
This wine boasts a profound minerality (flint). Age brings in notes of honey or ripe pear. Rounded and often opulent, its attack is instantaneous. On the palate, fleshiness is matched by mellowness, and both are equally persistent.
An ideal partner for delicate white meats such as poultry, veal in sauce. Pairs well with fish, crawfish or lobster.
It boasts a bouquet of small red and black fruits (blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry) and flowers (violet).
The body is ample and discreetly tannic and the fruit remains present. Frequently one will find an elegant hint of Morello cherry. Roundness, volume, power and balance are all here, and in just the right proportions.
A match for good cuts of beef, seared foie gras, aromatic poultry dishes or cheeses such as Chaource or Brie de Meaux.
