Angelini Wine features Vineyard of the Month – Azienda VitiVinicola Piazzo

It shouldn’t be a surprise that many of the vineyards we feature are family owned establishments.  Tucked away in the San Rocco Seno d’Elvio district of Alba, located in the Langhe Region of Italy, you will discover Azienda Vitivinicola Piazzo.  Native residents, Armando Piazzo and his wife Gemma own the Piazzo Estate have been producing fine grapes for some of the greatest wine makers of Piedmont (particularly of the nebbiolo grape variety) for over 50 years.

Today, the Piazzo Estate is run by their daughter Marina and her husband Franco Allario who are widely known as producers of award winning wines. From show stoppers like Barolo and Barbaresco, to the highly popular Moscato d’Asti, the estate bottled wines highly represent the finest wine production of the Langhe region.  The family maintains tried and true winemaking traditions – on any given day you will find Franco personally overseeing the operations and bottling, filtering and aging the wines by hand.  Not far behind are their sons Simone and Marco, who are passionate about learning the ropes of the family business.
