When looking for new Italian wines to import, we are selective, choosing small, boutique vineyards, often family owned with a unique take on winemaking.  The tradition of winemaking is often passed down generation to generation, and we are happily discovering more women owned wineries in the process. We recently connected with Col di Lamo, owned by Giaovanna Neri, who is making her mark in the territory of Montalcino, specializing in Brunello.

The owner, Giovanna Neri, graduated from law school, has inherited a great passion for wine from her father and now she is a successful and refined wine producer.  She has now shares her wine making skills with her own daughter,  Diletta Pieraccini, to continue the tradition.

Col di Lamo farm extends on Montalcino’s land for about 200 acres, of which 11 are vineyards.  What makes Col di Lamo wines special is Gianna Neri’s ability to imbue them with her great passion and love of her land – much like the exclusive love and respect a mother has for her child. Actually, she considers her wines her “creations (children)”, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Lamo and Acquavite, applying herself personally to their production, following and managing each working phase -just as her father taught her. The Col di Lamo wine label has been creatively designed to highlight a feminine touch: the delicate female profile and Lamo orange and green represent the image Gianna Neri wanted to convey to her farm and products.
