Located in the center of Italy in the region of Umbria, is the small village of Bevagna which is in the heart of the DOCG wine production area of Montefalco. The property covers 20 hectares (50 acres) that includes an historic farmhouse dating back to the 1700’s. Since 1960, Dorino Livon founded Azienda Agricola Livon in Friuli, which has been producing DOCG and DOC wines steeped in tradition combined with innovation for over 50 years.
During the early 1990’s the Fattoria ColSanto property became available and Dorino’s sons ,Valneo and Tonino, leaped at the opportunity to purchase an historic estate in the Sagrantino area of Umbria..
Since purchasing the property, the Livon family has worked extensively to further develop their vineyards with the primary goal being to reduce production yields in order to maximize the quality of the fruit. They completely altered the layout of their vineyards, added reduced pruning techniques, and added the application of more organic methods. The philosophy of high-density plantings (greater number of vines per acre), along with the introduction of integrating indigenous plants onto their land and the use of organic intervention to cure infections, has garnished their wines numerous awards throughout the world.
Exceptional finesse, full bodied and with an intrinsic freshness guaranteed by good acidity which gives the wine its structure.
The final note leaves all the flavors of the Umbria region on the palate, as the wine comes from a vineyard which has excellent minerals and salinity.
